Living in Te Atatū Peninsula: a guide for renters
Parks, harbour walks, cafés and an easy run into the city. What it's like to live on the Te Atatū Peninsula in West Auckland.
Where it is
Te Atatū Peninsula reaches out into the upper Waitematā Harbour in West Auckland, with water on three sides. The north-western motorway runs past its base, so the city centre is around 20 minutes' drive outside peak hours.
A village feel
The Peninsula township has cafés, a bakery, a library, a supermarket and everyday shops, with schools and early childhood centres close by. It's the kind of neighbourhood where people say hello on the street.
Outdoors
Walkways follow the harbour edge, and Harbourview-Orangihina Park has wide open space and views across the water to the city. There are plenty of reserves for dog walks and kids, and a boat ramp for anyone with a boat or kayak.
Getting around
Buses run to the city and Henderson, and the Northwestern Cycleway follows the motorway all the way into town, which makes cycling to work a real option.
Who it suits
Families, couples and pet owners who want space, a backyard and a friendly local community, without being far from the city.
Our townhouse
Our near-new two-bedroom townhouse is close to the Peninsula township, with a private backyard and a pet-friendly lease.
